Teddy Girls

This week’s outfit of the week steps away from our usual dress obsession and is inspired by the 1950s Teddy Girls.
This tomboy look grew from a rebellion against post war austerity and was influenced by Edwardian fashion.  The girls who dressed this way looked quite shocking stood next to the feminine silhouette that was in fashion at the time.  We just think they looked damn cool.

Chocolate gold

Gold is the new black.  Chocolate is always chocolate.
Our friends at Holi Boli have brought us a brand new design for spring and summer 2016/17.  Introducing the gorgeous Lucy dress.  Our Holi Boli dresses always begin when Ana sends us photos of fabric from her local fabric market from which we choose our colours.  She then buys the whole bolt of fabric and the women at Holi Boli make as many dresses as they can.  Sometimes there is only enough fabric for as little as three dresses.  We have been lucky with this gorgeous chocolate fabric and we have have several dresses ranging in size from Small to 2XL.  That does not mean you can relax – there is a maximum of two per size and sometimes just one.  If you love this dress – you must buy this dress now or risk missing out forever.

And what have we matched with this pretty chocolate dress?  Why gold of course – in my humble opinion – gold goes with everything always.  Lippy Karla has to step in from time to time to prevent me from making Two Lippy Ladies look like a gold emporium.

Pictured with the chocolate Lucy dress is the stunning Hell Bunny belt which is a perfect match.  In a sparkly stretch fabric with gold toned findings they are blinging perfect.

But wait.  This spring has given us the most insanely changeable weather.  One minute beautiful sunshine – then next thing you know we are digging out the cardigans.  Well as usual, we have you covered.  We have these fun Banned Apparel cropped cardigans in black with gold lame.  So pretty!

It has been a very exciting week at Two Lippy Ladies with so many new arrivals.  We could not be happier than to welcome back our old friends Sugar and Vice to Two Lippy Ladies.

Sugar and Vice have been making their unique and eye-catching jewellery since 2009.

Their designs are always substantial, always original and always incredibly well made.  The perfect match to our outfit of the week this week are these insanely huge, beautifully gold, mirror bamboo earrings.
